When hunting with an adventuring party, one tactic is for a member to lure monsters to the rest of the group. This type of trap can be surprisingly effective, particularly against monsters that are persistent in chasing their initial quarry. Here are two variations.
A large party of six or more can use their numbers to trap monsters as shown below.

| The party stands in a semi-circle, at least 5 wide. The lure brings the monster. | The lure squeezes past the party, but, lo, the monster cannot. While the monster tries to reach the lure, the party can attack. |
Even a smaller party can still trap monsters against a wall, rock, tree, or other impassable barrier as illustrated below.

| The party stands in a diagonal line from a wall, at least 3 long. The lure brings the monster. | The lure squeezes past the party, but the monster is pinched against the wall. Even if the monster manages to go around, it should be slowed enough for the lure to escape. |
These lure tactics can enable a party to take down some of the mightiest monsters in Dereth such as tuskers and olthoi.
I read about these tactics at the Forward Artillery site, linked from AC Vault. The author was Kira Argounova, a female Sho archer and vassal to Rippednbuff.
