History - I once hailed from Caran Pinnath, a city known by humans as Red Larch, in another world known as Toril. The existance of Rusvamira, or Shards, here on Britannia have led me to believe that perhaps my former world and our current one are more closely related than once thought. Britannia was once without elves, and Eru corrected that error.
But I fear I am ahead of myself. I was born of Meira and Telwin of Red Larch, two elves of good standing within that community. I am their only child, although my father did speak of a half-human sister born many years before I was born. If she were still alive, she would be more than one-hundred fifty, as humans count.
I say I was once from Toril, by that I mean that I no longer claim it as my home. As I grew up, I knew that one day I would seek out acceptance into the illustrious guild, Tel’Mithrim. They travelled much through Red Larch, and often brought candies and small packages to the children there. I was one such child. On the day of my majority, I made an announcement to family and friends. I would seek out the Grey Company. My family was all at once joyous and saddened, and helped me purchase the supplies I would need to make my journey. And so I left Caran Pinnath.
I travelled up to the human city of Neverwinter, where a great unrest was beginning. Adventurers far and wide were disappearing! It was not long before they sent me on the path that would lead to the Guild Hall, in hopes that I could find where the missing heroes had gone. The journey was full of peril, and several times I felt overwhelmed. But, in time, I found my way through the wilderness, and so I arrived at the site of the Guild Hall.
My friends, I have sad news. When I arrived, I found naught but ruins, and a single, sad elf sitting on what must have been the front steps. Her face was gaunt, her clothes tattered, but she refused to cry. I stood for a long time, wondering if I was seeing an apparition before me. Finally, all at once, she stood up, smiled lightly at me, and told me the tale of how the elves had fought a great battle, and had won the day, but had lost their home. With sadness, she told me how all the elves had vanished from her sight even as the walls were collapsing, leaving her alone. As I see it, when Eru took Tel’Mithrim on their journey, she was left behind to insure that it’s dream lived on in Toril.
I spent many days with her, learning of the events that led to this tragedy, all the while sifting through the rubble and sorting what could be used to rebuild and what was hopelessly lost. I uncovered an ornamental stone with a bright red gem for it’s pinnacle and turned to show her, when a flash caught my eye. As I peered into the gem, I saw a pool opening before me, and I dropped the stone. The marble surrounding it crumbled, and the red gem flared to life before me as it bounced once, then settled into a clearing. I was seeing a moongate for the first time.
But this moongate is not as one I have ever seen since, for it shined with the same red color as the jewel itself! I was hesitant to approach the shimmering red pool, when I heard Dînalqua speak from behind me.
"Go," she said, "go and find our mellon. N’yar Tel’Mithrim i’Rond nahost ar’ feith’ ren entule’N’Hrive. Tell the Grey Company the Hall will be rebuilt and will be waiting their return to Neverwinter." And with that, I reached out to touch the portal.
When I next opened my eyes, I was standing in woods I would later come to know as the city of Yew. In front of my foot was the stone I had travelled by, and I still have this stone. By chance or by design, it was not long before I found another elf named Talanithus who rescued me from an orc whose name I, oddly enough, knew to be Voghjuk.
