Thranduil Draugenmith

Also Known As - Thrand Graywolf, Gray, TG

Description - He is tall and slender, with angular features and a slightly hawkish nose. His violet eyes are still youthfull, yet gleam with the experiences of uncounted years. Golden hair falls straight down his back and is held away from his face by a leather band worn around his head. Mounted on the band, in the center of his forehead, is a deep black stone. His green tunic is well worn with travel, as is his brown cloak. Across his back is a quiver and a knotted yew bow. At his waist is belted an undecorated longsword and, hanging from a golden chain attached to his belt, is a small book with no markings. Beneath his tunic the gleam of golden chain mail can be glimpsed. A plain gold ring is on his right hand.

History - Thranduil was born in the Elven forests of Cormanthor centuries ago. His parents, Riangil and Elemmire, lived away from the larger elven settlements of the forest. In his early years, he learned the lore of the woods from them, becoming an accomplished tracker and herbalist.

Around his 200th year, the Edan began pushing into the elven woods in greater numbers than before. His parents could not bear the burden of contact with these invaders and departed for the Elven island of Evermeet. They were not the last. As the elves were debating with themselves over the best course of action, many of them began training for war with the Edan. Over the next several decades, Thranduil learned archery, swordplay, and battle magic as tensions with the Edan increased. When the elves finally decided that large scale conflict would be a mistake, they began abandoning Cormanthor in great numbers.

Though Thranduil longed to retreat to the peace of Evermeet, he couldn't bring himself to leave the ancient elven lands in the hands of an enemy. He journeyed to the coastal city of Neverwinter, a major port for elven vessels from Evermeet. There he joined with a group of elves dedicated to preserving the elven way of life outside the island sanctuary of Evermeet. Neverwinter was a very diverse city, with large bands of elves, dwarves, men, halflings, and gnomes, to name a few.

After being with the Grey Company for several years, word came that a group of humans and drow were planning to invade the city. Thranduil led a group of elven warriors, the fledgeling Ostar, in an early delaying action of this Great War. After the battles of the Great War, he was elected as Lieutenant of the Grey Company. It was in the rebuilding of Neverwinter that he met Coriadae, the elven maiden that was to become his wife.

He spent many years in Neverwinter fighting against the corruption of the land by forces of greedy Edan and hatefull Drow. He also became a secret member of the Harper's Guild, a group who held beliefs similar to the Elven way. After his marriage to Coriadae, the couple moved into the Neverwinter Woods to be away from the smell and noise of the ever growing city. Amid growing conflict with Drow and other dangerous forces, a massive dissaster forced the Grey Company and many others to leave Neverwinter behind. Thrand went with them, now their Captain, and lives near the city of Yew with his wife Coriadae.
