Lightheart

Also Known As - Vailant

History - Long ago in a forest far, far away, an infant's scream pierced the silence of the early morning stillness. Still very dark outside, the loving parents looked down upon their newborn elf. To their dismay, there lay a sickly child... pale skinned with a gangly appearance.

Misfortune revisited the parents as the child developed slowly. Crawling into furniture, eating the pet mongbat's food, and getting his head stuck in his parents' boots, the worried couple suspected brain damage and took the child to the village elders.

Clearly the village elders had no choice, the child had to be drowned. Euthanasia was the only compassionate option. But upon trying to drown the youth, the most amazing thing occured...now historians tend to differ on the following events, however, two stories tend to capture the following string of events :

The first goes that upon being thrown into the river, the clouds in the sky suddenly parted and a ray of light shown down upon the infant. Obviously a sign from heaven with a blessing of "light", the caring mother rescued her baby despite the elders wise advice and promptly named the child Lightheart.

The second version of what happened goes that upon being thrown into the river, the child bobbed up and down upon its walnut-shaped, empty head but would not sink. The elders then tossed large rocks about the child trying to sink him, but each time he would come bobbing back up to the surface. Too "light" too sink, the child washed up on the other side of the river where a wolf approached. Surely this spelled certain doom for the helpless child, but instead, the wolf only sniffed the child...and then urinated on him. Once again the child was tossed into the drink, but once again, too "light" to sink (sorry about the Cochrane rhyme there). The elders walked away in frustration, and the loving mother took the child from the water before he was urinated on again. And as you guessed, she named the child Lightheart.

In young Lightheart's teen years, Light surprisingly developed into quite the ladies man. With his sure-fire line: "Pull my finger", he was quite the lady killer. Unfortunately, now having matured into an adult elf, Light was still relying on "Pull my finger!" Light was to spend decades alone.

Upon his later travels to the land of Britannia he met a very old and very wise elf named Bloodglade. Bloodglade took pity on the pathetic young elf, and taught Light the ways of magic. Under Glade's watchful eye, and gassy bowels, Light developed into an impressive mage, and learned never to cast fire spells around old Glade.

Having developed into a mighty mage, with credibility in a reputable guild called The Grey Company, young Lightheart once again had a brain-fart, and moved in with the leather cladded, she-devil, Mistriss Nalynn. Poor bastard... he's been her bound man-servant ever since.
