The evening was going well enough. Q'wellen had entered the Temple earlier quite unexpectedly, and his advances were not something she was prepared to deal with. As much as she wanted to fling herself headlong over the cliff of "falling in love" she knew it was the absolute worst thing she could do. Besides, she just didn't feel right. She would be doing it... not because she was truly truly in love with him. But because she wanted to be in love again, period.
And her shadow had been with her all day. "Velkyn'uss" she had taken to calling him. Whispering in her ear. An errant touch on her cheek. Her hair. He was always there. He had been for months now. She could often sense his presence and in some way it comforted her. When he was gone, she felt strangely vulnerable.

Q'wellen and Myra had gone to the Silver Arrow for some drinks. After spending so long in the Temple, Myra felt ready for a little social interaction. She sang a few songs and eventually joined in on a sort-of game of Truth or Dare. It was fun. The title may be "Truth" but honestly, she thought - if they are asking, then they don't know the truth. Fortunately she hadn't found a need to lie about anything that was asked of her.

Myra had noticed Za'afiel walk in, while in the midst of the song "The Ballad of the Blue Rose". She knew he disliked the song greatly and was only beginning to understand why. But she had continued on with the singing. The one person she hadn't notice enter was Mord'sythe. She attributed it to the fact that she had gone so long without seeing him that she merely overlooked him entering. There was that, and she had been a little tipsy and quite intent on the game at hand.

When he rose to exit, he paused at the door, looking at her. "Sunveil. It is time." were the only words he said before exiting the building. This, of course, garnered all manner of strange stares from the various patrons of the Arrow. Mike had spoken up, perhaps an attempt to break any ice before it formed - "Ah, time for Mord's singing lesson, Myra?" Myra grinned a little at that. "Something like that." Q'wellen had received a pigeon from RZ at that very moment - Myra was thankful for the timing - and she waited until he had departed before following after Mord'sythe.

They spoke briefly outside the tavern and then travelled off into the forest. Mord'sythe gained much ground ahead of her, so she instead called upon her meager skill in magic to bring herself directly to the tower of Semper Intus Noctem. There she waited for Mord'sythe. She didn't wait long, however. Soon enough, he strode through the door.

"Now, you have a task." The grin that spread over his lips was a most sinister expression.

Myra simply looked at him. For once, she felt nothing. No apprehension. No excitement. She simply waited for him to continue.

"Hunt a daemon. Retrieve its legbone."

Myra looked at him for a moment and nodded once. She couldn't fathom the purpose in such a task, but she would carry it out. Opening her runebook, she knew of many places to find a daemon that would be all too willing to try to devour an elfmaid. As she faded from view, Mord'sythe's voice came to her, "Return with someone...."

This baffled her, but did not keep her from the task at hand. Once she had arrived upon Fire Isle, she sent a missive back to the Glade for Q'wellen. It asked him to meet her by the Crypts in a while. She hoped it would make it to him before she was finished. Though she knew felling a daemon all alone would not be a simple task. Not with her worn out bow. Eventually, the task was finished and a dead daemon laid at her feet, arrows peppering its infernal hide. Drawing her dagger from her belt, she carved into its thigh and eventually removed the femur.

Again, drawing on magic - she had grown marginally better over the past few weeks - she returned to the Crypts. Q'wellen was there waiting, and together they waited in the tower of Semper Intus Noctem for Mord'sythe to return. It did not take long.

"You have returned. Most excellent. Much quicker than I suspected."

Myra rose, holding the still-warm femur of the daemon, and offered it to him. "I am not one to dally."

Mord'sythe rose and stood before her, taking the bone and examining it. He then looked at Myra. "Hold out your arm."

Some voice in her head cried out for her not to. For her to flee from this place now, while she still could, but that voice was quickly smothered. She met his gaze evenly. Still strangely absent of any real 'feeling', she lifted her arm, holding it out for him.

He held the bone up, comparing its length to her arm. Q'wellen stood just to her side, his sword in hand, watching the proceedings. "This will do." Mord'sythe continued to look her over, as if determining something, while Myra lowered her arm. "You can use a blade?"

Myra looked at him. Refocusing on him. "I did, to put you where you are now."

"Have you remained in practice?"

Q'wellen broke in, "When necessary I will be her sword."

Mord'sythe turned his gaze on Q'wellen. "Of course."

Myra, paying neither any mind really, answered, "Only somewhat. I have talent for the necessary. So yes."

Mord'sythe focused again on Myra. "You will resume studies of the art. Return here in one week. The next stage will begin then."

"One week." Myra repeated.

"The next stage of what, may I ask?" Q'wellen spoke up as Mord'sythe reached the bottom of the stairs. Mord'sythe paused and Myra stood by silently.

"What I spoke of before, Q'wellen."

"....potential..."

Mord'sythe nodded and smiled politely.

"I will train her then." Q'wellen smiled.

"Your efforts will be appreciated. Now." Mord'sythe examined the bone in his hands. "I have work to do."

Myra only glanced at Q'wellen, half horrified, half amused at his offer and repeated, "One week..."
