The Arrow was dark when Calista wandered in that night. Though she was to deep in her own thoughts to notice it. She made straight for the bar, digging around under the counter till she found some ones stash of pizzas and a bottle of some thing green. Not even bothering to go around the to a table, the slight elf flopped to sit cross-legged behind the bar. It was late, no one else would be about, and she felt the need to have her mouth working some thing to keep pace with the thoughts working in her head."Informal this eve' are we cousin?" A silken voice toned from some where to her right.
Calista froze mid drink, her eyes shifting towards the sound. At the end of the bar a pair of glowing red eyes stared down at her. Calista belatedly realized how dark the tavern was. She took another swallow before pushing her thick red hair out of her face and turning slightly to get a better look at the armored patron on the opposite of the bar.
He was sitting there quite calm, his arms folded on the bars top, gauntlets and helm off slightly to one side. His red eyes drifting over Calista with mild interest. The young elf met the Drow's gaze easily. Even with the raiding going on, Calista rarely assumed any one was going to harm her unless they had moved to do so. She'd known more than one Drow, and the simple fact that this one had spoken to her and was not diving after her with a poisoned dagger made her inclined to be civil. "Care for some pizza?"
Surprise flickered across the dark elf's face before his eyes narrowed ever so slightly. "Why are you down there?"
"It's closer to the pizza?" She shrugged, taking another bite, never quite looking away from him. "Why are you sitting there, when any other elf in this place would string you up by your ears for target practice if they found you?"
For a few long minutes there was quiet, save Calista munching on the pizzas. "You are one of them, why aren't you defending your home?"
She rolled the bite around in her mouth before answering, "from what? Your just sitting there. It'd be a trifle rude if I just up and tried to kill you, don't you think?"
The dark elf shook his head fractionally, "it would not be wise to be so friendly with my sisters."
"Not planning on it, not if they troop around like the barbarians and the pirates 'ave been doing."
Some thing of a dark smile curved the corners of his lips, "you are all going to die. You know that."
"People keep sayin' that and it just keeps not happening," the elf girls tone went slightly cold. "Tell your sisters they should call off the frosty critters and the pirates, before we get upset enough to dig them out of their hole."
The dark elf watched her for a few minutes more, not answering. Then, with a fractionally nod he stood, slowly tugging his gauntlets back on before turning to go. After the muffled thud of the door closing, Calista heard the quiet growl of a particular grey wolf outside. Nimbreth doing her self-imposed escort duties.
Tucking the pizzas she hadn't eaten back into their wrappings, and finishing of the last of the green, fruity tasting drink off, Calista hoped gracefully over the bar. She stood still, ears flicking slightly, listening for some sound of her wolf or the Drow still being near by, but all was quiet. With a tired sigh, she whispered a fire spell and moved to re-light the candles.
