Q'wellen was on patrol...again. Since he and others had copied Khell's books from the tower, Q'wellen had been on patrol almost constantly. He of course knew the truth, he wasn't patroling, he was hunting. Hunting Khellenduras. He had passed by the home of Caramon Majere so many times he could recite from memory the location of every cracked and loose brick in the worn walls.
This night was different. He had taken some time to sell a few ingots for Faelen, in Britain. He even ran into Edward Rainstone in town and had a brief discussion with him.
He had gated home for some rest. Hoping to give himself a few moments to relax. Moving up to the roof for some long awaited meditation, it took him a few moments to realize something was out of place.
It took a long moment to realize what it was that was bothering him. Glancing over the roof of the Yew crypts, he could see faint light glowing from the tower there. Morde's tower!
Q'wellen ran to his bedroom, taking the stairs down from the roof in full flight. Throwing on his enchantened armor, he grabbed his silver katana off the wall. Still at a full run, he made it downstairs and leaped into Noble's saddle.
Charging across the open ground between his home and the crypt which stood in front of Morde's tower, he bashed in the empty head of a skeleton.
Reaching the tower, he could see light coming from the second floor windows. Eager but not stupid; Q'wellen took a moment to look in the first floor windows, in case of an ambush. Seeing nothing he charged up the stairs. As he reached the top step, he heard words of magic. Turning to confront the caster he saw....
Myra.
Myra Sunveil. His surprise was complete. In a huff he demanded to know why she was there. She calmly explained, that she was there studying. Q'wellen would hear none of it.
"Myra these books have all been copied. I know because I copied them myself. You can study in the guildhall!"
Myra simply pointed at the table. It was then that Q'wellen noticed the new book there. It was unreadable. "Myra you can read this?"
She replied that she was studying the book. A long silence ensued.
Again Q'wellen was forced to face his tumbled emotions concerning the lovely elfmaid. How lovely she looked in her red dress and hat. How terrible it was to see her sitting in this den of evil.
They bantered for abit, and Q'wellen realized he would not be able to get her to leave.
"I can't force you to leave Myra, but hear my words. Be careful."
"I am safe here, Q'wellen."
"You know Myra," he whipered, "if you need anything you only have to ask."
She blushed at his words, which gave Q'wellen's thoughts a heady spin. He decided it was best to leave. As he turned to leave he spoke once more. "Be careful arwen'amin and do me one favor. Leave a note for Khell... Tell him I'm coming for him."
He walked downstairs without another word. It wasn't until he reached his bedroom and unarmored, that he realized his grave mistake. When he had charged up the stairs to confront Khell, he had heard words of power and seen a flash of light as someone disappeared. At the time he had thought it was Khell fleeing, but now he had time to reflect upon the words he heard, Khell hadn't recalled...
...he had turned invisible.
